Michael Genereux will be presenting on beginning and advanced topics in Ruby on Rails with respect to mapping 1-to-many relationships to Rails controller, models, and user interface components. He will be drawing a lot of information he picked up from Amy Hoy’s talk “Overcoming Scaffolding Addiction” at RailsConf. FYI, the RubyOnRails Podcast interviewed Amy in Oct 2005, download interview here
First hour: Relationships in ActiveRecord. The ability to automatically handle persistence to a database is only the beginning of ActiveRecord’s features. Second hour: Relationships in ActionPack/ActionView How the controller and view take advantage of methods created by ActiveRecord. From bottom to top, I’m going to cover creating and manipulating relationship from the user interface.
